One million engines of the 2011 series

The success story of an industrial engine

The Cologne-based engine manufacturer DEUTZ AG is very proud to announce a fantastic event: In March of this year, the one millionth 2011 series engine left the assembly line in Cologne-Porz. The concept of the series introduced in 1988 featured an absolute innovation in the industrial engine sector: The engine lube oil was used as cooling medium and in addition to that a toothed belt was used for the first time in the case of industrial engines as camshaft drive.
Since the start of regular production the engines have been installed in more than 200 different types of equipment. In their power class they are the unchallenged No. 1 in the market, even in the USA a best seller. As early as in the year 2000, DEUTZ could deliver the 500,000th unit.

The “Ten Eleven“, as the engines were called at the time of their market launch, were available with two, three and four cylinders (bore/stroke 91/105 respectively 91/112 mm) and could be supplied with integrated or conventional cooling system. The power ratings spanned 22 to 61 kW. When the series was further developed – now designated 2011 – the bore was enlarged to 94 mm. As a result the power range changed to 22.5 to 64 kW. In future, the four-cylinder engines of this series will also be available with water-cooling. With an unchanged installation space requirement, these engines can deliver power outputs up to 74.9 kW. They comply with the European and US exhaust emission regulations specified by EU stage III A and EPA Tier 3.
